Our client, a leading international manufacturer of snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles, and personal watercraft such as Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo, Quintrex, and Evinrude, faces significant obstacles in managing its expansive product promotions budget across Canada and North America. The existing process, relying on outdated and semi-manual Excel-based methods, leads to prolonged timeframes of at least two days to generate cost estimates for promotions.

Furthermore, the regional-level constraints imposed by this process hinder the agility and responsiveness required in today’s dynamic market landscape. Additionally, the inability to accurately allocate promotional funds exacerbates inefficiencies, as promotions are often offered indiscriminately across regions, leading to unnecessary margin erosion and misalignment with sales targets.

Solution

We developed a robust Sales Promotion costing engine using Microsoft SQL, enabling seamless integration of all pertinent data including product details, sales forecasts, and other relevant information for our client. This powerful engine empowers the promotions management team to dynamically create and cost sales promotions at a granular state level, leveraging the finest granularity of BRP’s forecast data available.

Our system allows for the construction of promotions tailored to specific states and product combinations, providing flexibility and precision in promotional planning. It supports the management of multiple approved promotion contexts for ongoing comparison and can accommodate up to 1000 concurrent promotion prototypes within a sandbox environment for testing and refinement.

With an impressive capacity, our promotion configuration tool can handle up to 55 million data elements associated with a single promotion prototype, ensuring comprehensive and accurate calculations based on the data for each model included in the promotion.
